WEA Rally in Olympia

This MLK Jr. Day—Monday, January 16, 2017—is not just a holiday. It’s a day to join together to fight for the CIVIL RIGHTS of all kids, quality public schools, and for the future of our work and schools.

On January 16, 2017, join tens of thousands of educators, parents, and kids for a HISTORIC WEA RALLY on the Capitol steps in Olympia.

Why go? The 2017 Legislature will be in session. This is the last Legislative Session which can create the budget to meet the Court’s 2018 deadline to fully fund education, in order to avoid further “contempt” penalties. Be there to present the “Student Bill of Rights” to Legislators, and to tell them that the State must comply now with the Supreme Court’s McCleary Decision and amply fund the basic education that the State Constitution guarantees all students. Be there for our students and each other!

Car parking in Olympia is very limited. WEA-Cascade will be providing 9 busses for transportation for the rally. Busses will begin boarding at 7:30 am for an 8:00 am departure from:

Participants will attend the rally at 10:30 am, and will be back to Shoreline or Bothell by approximately 3:00 pm. This limited seating is only available to WEA-Cascade members in the Edmonds, Northshore and Shoreline school districts and their family and friends.
